Abstract

This article sheds some new light on the works of Rabindranath Tagore as well as their translations in China, giving a history of their transformations. Article deals with the different phases of translation of Tagore's compositions. While his translation were being done English, some translation were also done in Chinese language. The article discuses the different components deriving from the root Bangla language of these compositions. Alongside mentioning Rabindranath Tagore's travels in China, the article gives a summarized description of the Chinese poets and artists, publishers, political personalities, painters, dramatic actors, teachers and students, and members of the general public who celebrated Rabindranath's work. Several examples are also mentioned of the works that they produced in memory of Rabindranath's journeys, alongside his own literary creations. Finally, the article gives an analysis with examples of how Rabindranath Tagore's inspired writings novels, stories and observations influenced modern Chinese history.
